Benromach 15 Year

Tasted during a Benromach tasting event in Dornach, Scotland. Nose of cookies, fruit, and frosting. Taste of sweet fruit, cookies and a bit of spice, similar to gingerbread cookies. Shirt finish flows away from the sweetness into a mild smoke flavor.

Color: Burnished copper Nose: Earthy, Sherry, raisin, fruitcake, charred oak, spice, allspice, baked banana, baked apple, brown sugar Palate: Resinous, heat, spice, astringent, savory Finish: Short to medium, spice, sweet, astringent, grippy

3.5 stars - Very good; 750 ml bottle Naughty. That is the overriding emotion I get while drinking this whisky. Dirty smoke, soy sauce, loamy soil, Welches grape juice, syrup - it is an almost inappropriate range of flavors. Neck pour was unbelievably enjoyable, middle of the bottle was discordant, and the end was good fun. I am on the fence if I will repurchase. Talisker Distillers Edition and Glendronach 15 yr play in this same space. I give a slight edge to those whiskies.
