Reviewed September 16, 2024A complex, Blended Caribbean Rum made from 40% Guyanan pot & column stilled aged 3 to 5 years, 20% Guyana pot & column still that’s un-aged, 35% pot & column stilled aged 5 years, & 5% Jamaican pot stilled aged 3 years; bottled at 46.2% ABV. by Sukhinder Singh founder of Black Tot. He tacked down a few of original British Navy flagons from collectors, sampled the contents, & had them scientifically analyzed. He modeled their flagship Black Tot Rum after the original navy dram that conquered the world. It has an aromatic birth with notes of molasses, banana over a touch of espresso, dark chocolate & anise; while an oily & tropical island life adds notes of old wood, banana, mango, pineapple, salt-water taffy, hints of more coffee & cocoa; that leads to a long & off-dry death. Reviewed July 1, 2023Very potent and funky. The taste lingers for a long time. Alcohol burn on the finish. Not my favorite rum -

Reviewed June 30, 2023 (edited August 11, 2023)This is quite the blend; 35% from 5 year old Barbados pot still and column still rums, 40% from Guyanese Demerara rum aged between 3-5 years, 20% from Guyanese unaged rum (both Guyanese rums are from a combo of pot and column stills) and 5% from a funky pot still Jamaican rum. No additional aging… It’s copper colored and after a swirl, it leaves a nice ring around my glass with legs slowly dropping back to the bottom of my glass. Mmmm the smell… molasses, tropical fruits, bananas, spices. There’s nothing overwhelming and there’s no astringency. It is a bit musty, maybe from the Jamaican rum. It tastes amazing and very creamy and warm. That’s the first thing I notice. Then the flavors kick in; chocolate, banana, all spice, coffee. There’s a lot going on here. It’s flavorful, but not too complex. It’s smooth! The mouthfeel is rich, creamy and warm. The finish is kind of dry and bananas sit in the back of your throat at the end. Overall, this is fantastic. If you see it on the shelf, grab it -
