My bottle opened up over time to let the vanilla and caramel come through the initial harsh pepper from the first pour. Great bottle but prefer ER over traditinal blantons.
Dumped on 1/23/25 from barrel number 479, Warehouse H, Rick 70.
The bottle is beautifully crafted and feels premium. The nose on this pour was slighly medicinal with notes of cherry and vanilla. The taste was initially rich and oaky with a burn that transitioned into a smooth finish. The aftertaste contained chocolate and spices reminiscent of a traditional Mexican “café de olla”.
👃Nose: traditional and rich bourbon smell
Mouthfeel: medium
Complexity: medium
Finish: medium
👅Taste: heavy baking spices
65/100
Everytime I have this I’m more convinced that either the barrel variation is huge or this is simply an above average whiskey.
