Nose: Oak, maple, light brown sugar, cinnamon bark, vanilla as a fly-by.
Palate: Thin, spices, deeper richer vanilla. Hints of dried light fruits like golden sultanas.
Finish: Rich, peppery spice but this melts away to leave a long, soft, sweet vanilla.
A very smooth pour! Nose has a good amount of old leather to it, and almost no spice! Taste is quite sweet, with a slight spice (clove, maybe?) and a good black pepper finish. Lingers a long while.
So much of a better dram than the standard Bulleit bottle.
The nose starts with floral rye spice and an earthiness that drowns out a bit notes of charred oak. Green apple quickly appears along with a molasses sweetness.
The palate is light and airy, filling the mouth with dry, charred oak and a a great burst of baking spice and pepper. Green apple immediately follows up and mixes in as it all stays mostly to the front of the mouth. It doesn’t quite show it’s age as it’s still a little simple and aggressive with each sip leaving you wanting a bit more out of it.
The finish is short to medium and a lasting spiciness but short with green apple coming together with charred oak to give it a pleasant send off, but too quickly.
