I read quite a bit of how this adds smokiness to a drink. It tastes like what you’d think Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve aftershave cologne would taste like. Leather, a vetiver likeness to it.

Sweet and smoky, bitterness comes through on the end.

I love Amaris, the quirkier the better. This one, a free pour (or two) courtesy of the manager of one of my favourite Italian restaurants, was right in my timoniera, as the locals might say. There’s rhubarb upfront followed by a waft of smoke. It’s more sweet than bitter and worked well as an after-dinner drink. If you like Cynar, you’ll enjoy this.

Sweet dark fruit, cola and citrus underneath, light smoke flavor (not as much as I expected from descriptions, not as much as I wanted), yet not very bitter either. Nice mix in rye cocktails.
