Castle & Key Small Batch Wheated Bourbon

The nose starts off with a gentle mix of charred oak and ripe fruit. Fresh touches of spearmint are there, with bread and dark chocolate backing up everything. It comes across as very easy going and inviting, hard to believe it is 100 proof. The palate is dangerously smooth, easy to keep in the mouth for an eternity. Charred oak and ripe fruit are at the front, but quickly balanced by dark chocolate. It is as simple as that, but wonderfully done. It is refreshing and delicious. The finish is medium with lingering notes of charred oak and dark chocolate, as crisp notes of ripe fruit fade. The simplicity of this is where it's genius is, flavorful in the right ways without being too complicated.
