Rating: 11/23
I was really impressed by the blanco from this brand, so I'm looking forward to trying this one.
N: It's a bit dry and light, with kind of flat wood coming in. Pretty big oiliness with lime, something a tad savory, and some sweetness that hints at fruits, but that I'm struggling to place. Some organic herbal notes, but they aren't vegetal. Actually quite a complex and enjoyable nose.
P: Lots of wood. It's flat with astringency. I think the wood is tying into the bitter element of the lime in an unfortunate way. The complexity from the nose is squashed here. There's some sweetness, but it's quite minimal. Mostly dry. Some oil for sure though.
F: Super drying. Lots of tannins. I thought that the palate was OK, but this is sliding in the wrong direction. Way too tannic.
- Conclusion -
This unfortunately went steady downhill, ending with a really rough finish. It's hard to pick a rating for this, but it's certainly below a 12. I don't think it's below a 9 though. I'm thinking an 11. I could make a decent cocktail with this though if I winged it.
