Copper & Kings Destillaré Intense Café
Copper & Kings // Kentucky, USA
Introduced to its line of Desillaré liqueurs in 2019, Copper & Kings Destillaré Intense Café is made by adding cold brew Arabica coffee to a barrel filled with the distillery’s signature American Brandy. The blend of coffee and brandy is allowed to aged for an additional six to nine months, during which time additional vanilla beans, cardamom pods and coffee beans are also added to the barrel. The liqueur is then diluted with additional cold brew coffee and sweetened with honey before being bottled at 90 proof.
Coffee/Chocolate LiqueursBoth coffee and chocolate liqueurs are often dark in color and tend to use real coffee and/or chocolate in its creation. But artificial flavors can be used. Often neutral spirits are used as the base but any liquor family can be used.
"Appropriately, the color of this liqueur resembles unadulterated iced coffee. On the nose, the heat of brandy leads, followed by hints of coffee bean and vanilla bean. Coffee notes are much more apparent on palate, and it’s clear this is not intended to be a sweet, dessert-style liqueur. It’s potent and brandy-forward with a touch of spice and underpinnings of a floral coffee flavor that lingers pleasantly. Drink over a large ice cube and in cocktails."
