Aged Rum

Cruzan // US Virgin Islands

community rating

3 out of 5 stars
( 42 )

This rum had been available in different packaging and with a different “recipe”, but both the rum and the bottle has been updated. The rums used for this marque have been aged for up to 12 years in used whiskey barrels. The assembled blend is additionally aged up to a year in new oak. Single barrel here is referring to this last stage of the aging process.

  • Aged Rum
Rum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".

Tasting Notes

"Cruzan's typical light wood and vanilla dominate the nose, though a touch of cocoa makes itself apparent. Heat, wood and woody spice characterize the palate where the initial cocoa turns faintly bitter and some grassy cane struggles to assert itself. The finish emphasizes heat and vanilla--pretend it's Scotch and add a drop or two of water."
