Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited February 2, 2024)Very unique profile and red amber appearance; licorice, medicinal, Dr. Pepper, stout, chocolate, cherry; spicy. This is very interesting to try, but I cant stomach more than one sampler pour. I like the field to bottle process from South Alabama corn fields; white wheated bourbon. -

Reviewed July 29, 2023 (edited February 2, 2024)Appearance:Very dark brown, way dater Tham most 3 yr bourbon. Alabama must age like Texas. Noise; caramel, toffee Palate:Sweet, caramel Finish; huh proof heat, vegetal finish. I'm a fan. If you like Balcones Bourbon give this a try. Best field to bottle Alabama Bourbon to be had. A bit of water makes the heat go away but dulls the other flavors.70.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed June 17, 2023 (edited February 2, 2024)Had seen some great reviews of Dettling out of Alabama, so grabbed a bottle while vacationing in Orange Beach, AL. The bottle I have is a 61-month Cask Strength Single Barrel. It is fantastic. The Alabama heat produces a bottle that is unbelievably dark and rich for a 5-year bourbon. Nose: Dark, chocolatey caramel with oak, vanilla Juicy Fruit, orange cream, coconut, linseed and orange peel. It's like Juicy Fruit gum with vanilla, spice and chocolate. Flavor: White sugar sweetness on the front with strong vanilla Juicy Fruit. Some nice spice, white pepper, and oak mid-palate. On the back-end the caramel sweetness and spice combine along with vanilla and orange peel. Body: Thick and creamy mouth feel, but nothing great when compared to some of my best barrel-strength bourbons. Does the lack of age contribute to lack of oiliness / thickness (relative to the best bottles)? Finish: Caramel sweetness, vanilla Juicy Fruit, creamy dark chocolate, white pepper and spice linger along with orange peel and vanilla that gives an orange creamsicle vibe as the other notes fade.75.0 USD per Bottle
