Dolin Dry Vermouth
Dolin // France
Dolin is one of two vermouth brands made in Vermouth de Chambéry, a region which has an appellation d'origine contrôlée or AOC which dictates how the vermouth is to be made. Dolin Dry Vermouth is made primarily from ugni blanc wine and blend of 15 different botanicals. These include grand wormwood, brooklime, rose, and orange peel, as well as verbena and yellow genepi. It is slightly sweet (sugar less than 50g/L) and bottled at 17.5% ABV.
VermouthVermouth is a type of aromatized wine. It is fortified and flavored with botanicals typically featuring Artemisia absinthium (wormwood) as the primary bittering agent. In the EU, it must be made from 75% wine and its ABV is 14.5-22%. Vermouth styles range from extra dry to sweet.
"Dolin Dry Vermouth is almost clear in color. The intensity on the aroma is low, but there are lemon and wine notes to be found. Otherwise, not a lot going on there. The vermouth is soft on the palate with the intensity picking up a bit. More of the lemony notes, but also a mild green herb and bitter notes coming through. The added sweetness just rounds out the vermouth, it doesn't show much sweetness at all. Overall, not a neutral vermouth but perhaps one to choose if you're not looking for overly bitter. "
