El Dorado 15 Year Rum

Nose: Heavy dark notes of molasses, wood, caramel, dark spices. This is pretty much an ideal nose for a rum for me. Tasting: caramel, toffee, vanilla, dark fruits, touches of mint Finish: Lots of wood, spices, medium length. 15 is a really good rum, especially for the price. There's a great mix of of spice, wood, and sweetness with a good amount of complexity that's perfect for sipping.

Dark amber. Strong caramel. Slightly sweet, molasses, cinnamon, cedar, chocolate, moderate funk, mild black pepper. Smooth, mild alcohol, long spiced caramel finish. Rich, classic sipper, and great value!

Brown sugar and light molasses are the strongest aromas -- maybe some dark cherry, too. It has a richness about it. I like! Mild cinnamon burn; I'm glad it's not a higher proof. There's sweetness but it's not sugary. Just a couple drops of water help to smooth out the burn and bring forth a little floral aroma. Light caramel, mild orange zest, and a hint of fine tobacco are the flavors i can discern. At times it tastes like it was aged in Dalmore Cigar Malt scotch barrels! It's definitely a good sipper but also works well as a mixer. Rating based on neat sipping.

A rich, Demerara Rum by the Diamond Distillery in Guyana; pot-distilled & matured in bourbon barrels.for 15 years. It has a thick & rich birth with notes of brown sugar, honey, dried fruits, toffee, stewed stone fruits, prunes; while a syrupy life adds notes of mince pies, vanilla, molasses, caramel, brown sugar, treacle & toffee; that led to a long & creamy death with notes of chocolate, fire, sweat spices & dark spices. First sip is light and quite sweet wirh notes of bruleed banana, burnsr espresso beans and vanilla. A light bodied texurre given the age, midpalette adds levels of clove spice and guyana funk, with a spicy, brown sugar and slightly fusile finish. Made to sip, but would siginficantly improve af higher proof

This really is the don! My absolute favourite rum.

Chocolate

Delicious, high quality aged rum. Try in a Royal Bermuda Yacht Club cocktail.

Vanilla, coffee and orange peel jump at you as you take in the nose. Like a fine French latte. The first sip is an explosion of flavors without even a hint of harshness. At this point it moves from a French Latte to a Cuban coffee, with strong brown sugar and cinnamon notes. As you continue, chocolate and citrus come out to play as well. The finish is long and satisfying with a little more coffee and cinnamon. I'm still fairly new to rum in general, but this to me is the Cognac of aged rums. One of the top spirits I've tasted on this tasting journey thus far. I'm probably going to now visit Guyana at some point just to go to the El Dorado distillery. This is world class in a glass.
