Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Straight Bourbon

Supremely complex. Opens very oak forward (shocking for a Texas whiskey, I know) but opens up into something really complex and unique…especially the finish. The blend of oak, brown sugar, red berries, stone fruit, a touch of smoke…it might be one of the best finishes I’ve ever experienced.

First pour- bursts with a myriad of flavors! Also gives the heat one would expect at 115. While it’s not near as smooth as the refined G. T. Stagg, it certainly reminds me of the amazing flavor experience of a very unique, hard to get bourbon.

Color: Red/ruby Nose: vanilla, cinnamon, bread, red fruit Palate: vanilla, oak, punch of spice diminishes faster than I can process. Red fruit, cherry pie, jam after second sip, still leaves too abruptly. Adding a small cube of ice brings a bitter earthy tone to the nose. Black tea and pepper on the back of the tongue. It’s a decent pour, but not worth the bottle price.
