Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Straight Bourbon

Nose: Texas, light floral peach, heavy grain and rye. Almost maple syrup covered blueberries. Sweet vanilla and caramel Taste: oak. Heavy dense cedar smoke. Wood polish. Light fruity and spicy finish. Two trickles of water open up the nose tremendously. Floral honey, honeydew melon, peanut butter, very very light citrus zest. Toffee and candied ginger. Taste is strong fruit up front with oak and smoke taking over. More water gives more earthy and herbal notes. It’s a double barrel Texas whiskey. Expect intense oak.

Cereal and toffee aroma, super dark and enjoyable. Instant assault of spice on the tongue followed by sweet. I love how aggressive it is. Spice, richness, and proof all go together really well. Toffee, caramel, and espresso on the tail. This whiskey is absolutely stellar.

2021 Balmo Neat Glencairn Appearance: This whiskey belongs in a library setting, with lots of rich mahogany and many leather bound books. Dark and rich in color. Syrupy texture that really costs the glass and sticks. Nose: Leather, oak, cloves, blood orange Palate: Grape soda pops into the palate, followed by a spicy oak and baking spices. Pretty strong spearmint note. Leather. Maybe a little milk chocolate as well. Finish: Baking spices, oak, spearmint and leather linger long after the whiskey is gone. Gentle Kentucky Hug accompanied the tasting notes, making for a delightful finish. Got to try this via sample from @trentoniousmaximus This is very good bourbon. I love how dark and rich this is, and it has the complexity to boot. Thankful to be able to have tried this gem!

Appearance: deep ruby mahogany, extremely think oily legs ooze down the glass Nose: this smells like a sweet musty barn, charred oak, gooey pecan pie, and Swedish fish candy Palate: deep oak, cinnamon, clove, candied cherries, and toffee coat the palate with an oily slickness, love the mouthfeel that sticks to your mouth Finish: there is a hint of sweet buttery pie crust mixing with the sweet musty oak and cherries This sample was given to me generously by @trentoniousmaximus and is the 2021 release. Sweet on the nose. Surprising smooth for the ABV with a pleasant warmth. Taste is sweet at the start and spicy at the finish with a velvety mouthfeel.
