Garrison Brothers Single Barrel Bourbon

Nose of oak, smoke, cinnamon, grass, livestock, toast and caramel. Tastes of oak, cinnamon, black pepper, apple and tea. More subtle than I expected for sure.

Nose: definitely the best part of the dram. Honey comb, vanilla, some earthy Texas funk, cinnamon. Fantastic nose Palate: maple syrup, brown sugar, tobacco and Texas funk and barrel spices. Finish: long lingering Hye Texas hug. Overall: it’s a decent pour. I’ve had some that are super cinnamon forward. This particular bottle is a total wine store pick and it’s at the high end of the rating for this bottle. Solid!

Very malty and dark. Salty barley flavor. Smells like leather and charred wood. Heavy and intense. I like it.

Glencairn, neat. Color: Dark copper. Aroma: Leather; butterscotch; old, dusty wood. Fills the glass, but isn’t overwhelming. Taste: Soft upfront, with mild burn towards the back. Unsweetened tea; slight anise; oak undertones. Not much complexity here, fairly smooth but a bit flat. Finish: Medium, with little burn and a small, youthful aftertaste. Still tasting unsweetened tea. Overall: Satisfactory. Aroma leads to an expectation that taste doesn’t quite deliver.
