George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Fall 2008)

Straight out of glencairn glass. The color is amber honey. Right out of the bottle you smell sweet smokey bbq. Flavor is very clean. There’s a little spicy cinnamon heat with a smooth maple, but the flavors are subtle. Little bitter on the aftertaste but not overpowering. Definitely gets better as it breathes and gets much sweeter. Its a very pleasant journey. The more I sip this, the drier and woodier it gets up front and the sweetness gets more distinct as yoh move along. Its a pretty big swing in flavor.

Sweet at the front. Corn at the back. Very good!

Really smooth. It's nice that they have The Liquor Cabinet here to mix it up a bit.

Tasted neat. Dark golden brown and average coating legs in the glass. Nose is light, floral grain and mineral saline. Oak, ethanol, and charcoal surround the sweet corn, dry roasted peanuts, and vanilla. Not as sweet as expected. Baking spices come on and so does a sour flavor. Light to moderate mouthfeel and then longer mint, mineral, char, and tobacco finish. With ice the bourbon flattens, but the sour char ethanol finish continues. I was really expecting a better more complex drink given the Distiller Pro rating (not seeing a cherry cola sweetness) and a 13 year age statement. Will keep tasting this and circle back, but right now, first blush, this is a disappointing 3.5 ...being generous.

Ive heard Flintstone vitamins and didn’t really get it. After tasting, i get it. Not my thing.
