The nose on this Glendronach is delightful - berries and plums. Palate is sweet and soft, again berries and plums and something floral. It drops away very quickly however and only some spice remains in the finish. The "drop away" aspect is the only reason this isn't well into the 4+ rating though - it's really nice. I also really, really love port finishes though so take that for what it is worth. When I finished this bottle I searched out one of the last ones in the Bay Area to replace it however - always a good sign.
I like this more than the 12 and 18. I’m into sweeter casks so this is right up my alley. Intermingled berries on the nose with juicy port and sherry right up front along with fresh honey. Incredibly sweet and smooth finish. Pair this with a high grade dark chocolate and you’re in heaven.
Sweet, malt-rich candy notes and honey coat texture before a nice port finish.
More of a dark liqueur profile or dessert dram than an every day whiskey, but overall a good change-of-pace offering from GlenDronach. (KM)
If you like red wine and or whisky then this is the bottle for you. It smells like they put a little bit of wine in the blend. It has those classic sherry notes but then add even more rich dark raisins from the port. I can’t figure out if I should be having Italian food with it or be sitting next to a campfire. This is a unique must try whisky from Glendronach.
