Whiskey night tasting with friends, tasted blind. Nothing particularly remarkable about this one, but easy to drink. Honey, apple, malty. I'd take this over Glenlivet 12 for what appears to be about the same price.
Nose: Woody, green/herbal, milky
Palate: Barley, wood/oak, buttery mouthfeel, milk chocolate, coffee
Finish: Long finish. Salty, wood/oak, milk chocolate.
This is not a complex whisky at all. Slightly hot, but a pretty middle-of-the road, spirit forward dram. It's tasty enough, chocolatey and woody, it a little thin on the palate for it's 40%. Generally OK.
A solid, right down the middle scotch that opens up well with a drop of water, brining up fruits d toning down the spice. Full of toasted barley notes and nuttiness. A lovely long finish.
Bottle has been open for many years so will probably not be the best representation…after coming from two Japanese whiskies prior, the nose was horrible comparably. Almost washing up soap.
But slowly started coming around with some green apple being prominent. The taste was similar, but with a bit more fruit. Not bad not great…
