If more rye whiskey tasted like this, I'd drink more rye whiskey. This is complex and lovely in ways I did not anticipate.
On the nose, predominantly sour cherries, but also hints of bread and butter pickles as well as pumpernickel bread. On the palate, I get the characteristic rye spice, but also the friendlier spices from the finishing barrels and cherries again. On the finish, vanilla and allspice with the oak coming through strong at the end.
