HYDE No. 5 The Áras Cask Burgundy Cask Finish

A rich, Single Grain, Single Malt Irish Whiskey by brothers Conor & Alan Hyde founders of Hibernia Distillers in Skibbereen, Ireland made with 100% corn, triple-distilled in a Coffey column still, aged for 6 years in re-charred ex-Bourbon casks before being finished for 6 months in Burgundy Red Wine casks from the Côte d’Or. It has an aromatic birth with notes of tart strawberry, ripe cherry over crème brûlée, toasted oak & brown sugar; while a rich & creamy life adds notes of roasted pecans, Crack Jacks, frosted cinnamon rolls, grapefruit bites & a hint of vanilla; that leads to a long death with notes of berry pop-tart, dried fruits & mocha. Love this. Sweet but tart. Vanilla, cherry, pecan notes

Horrible. Taste like I just swallowed a mouthful of rubbing alcohol. Was hoping that the smell, also of rubbing alcohol, was not comparable to the taste. Feel like my money was wasted.

Enjoyed the vanilla, butterscotch components in this dram. However I feel the price may be a touch high for what it is.
