NOSE: Wet, charred maple wood. Red candy sweetness. Caramel oakiness. Very sweet nose. Could smell this for a long time.
TASTE: Sweet oak. Clean entrance. Full of flavor for a sub-hundred. Almonds stored in an oak box. Very faint powdered hot-cocao note towards the end.
FINISH: Slick and quick with oak tannins left residing in my gums. Only on the retro-nasal do I get any of the typical “Jack Banana” and it is more on the ‘still green from the grocery store’ spectrum of banana.
I chased this hard and missed it at retail at our big box store in town. I found it at a local mom and pop and paid extra… is it worth MSRP? Yes if you are a specialty Jack Daniel’s fan (of which I am a BIG fan). Is it worth $119…? I am still trying to justify it in my head, but am still happy to add it to my collection, nonetheless.
