The nose doesn't suggest that this would be a rye. Not much in terms of spice. Some sort of dark fruit and cocoa on the nose. Along either dark caramel and oak. Pretty dark and malty for a rye, with some sweetness as well.
The flavor leans more on the darker notes. Oak with some char in the back. There's some citrus as well with mint that rises until the finish. There's a decent sweet finish at the end. I'm liking it the more I drink it. It isn't complex, but it is different for a rye.
