Reviewed October 31, 2020The nose has leather and honey smells quite sweet. The palette is medium bodied, there is a lot of pear and salt and chocolate and smoke in the front of the flavor. There are also floral and spice notes in the flavor. The finish is short and peppery and and dry with a sage or leather aftertaste. -

Reviewed October 26, 2020Some vanilla notes backed up by a strong peaty backbone. Pretty 2 dimensional to me. Still a solid offering -

Reviewed August 4, 2020 (edited August 6, 2020)This was my second favorite in the Flaviar box that my wife got me for fathers day which also included the US small batch and Sanaig. This distillery is fairly new and has only been around since about 2004 so basically a baby compared to the infamous scotch distilleries. What i like about Kilchoman in general is the more low key laid back peat influence compared to the big boy Islay distilleries. Those to me tastes like plastic and rubber tires. The one is light and crisp with a peat influence that is not overpowering and the finish just kept going and going for what seemed like minutes. Overall very impressed with all three. -

Reviewed July 3, 2020 (edited August 6, 2020)Nose: Smoke, peat, slightly medicinal, maritime, lemony sweetness behind the smoke. Taste: Sweet smoky peat, lemony, vanilla, reminds me of Ardbeg although more smoky, less peaty. Finish: Medium. Smoke and sweet vanilla notes linger, peat in the back.
