Kilchoman Machir Bay

The Machir Bay starts with familiar wafts of Islay peat smoke and adds a pleasant aroma of sweet, soft fruit for a surprisingly good balance. Although the smoke is not as intense as some of its Islay big brothers, it's no pipsqueak either. In fact the palate is not as balanced as the nose. The smoke is the star here, with the fruit notes coming through as a close second. Overall it's a pretty satisfying dram with a decently refined dual chorus.

Very good whiskey. If it had a couple more distinct notes and less spiciness this would be a great whiskey. Dominant notes of briney, smoky, and leathery peat. Overall fairly smooth with a hint of spice and sherry. Easy drinking peated scotch. If you're set on having some peat, this is an easy grab.

Pretty good

It's not so astonishing. Like every other 10 years old Islay, but with a hint of vanilla (at least for me it's there)

Live the peaty taste as I generally do with these smokey scotches. Not the best finish - a little harsh at the end - but still a decent bottle of single malt.

Fresh lightly Smokey nose. Very light butterscotch. Young and a bit hot pallet. Which was good but certainly not for new whiskey drinkers. Looking forward to trying their more aged options.
