Kōloa Kaua'i Dark Rum

This is an awesome rum. It’s very sweet and tastes a lot like vanilla. It’s good with just soda water and lime.

Pretty smooth for unaged, but too molasses sweet to drink by itself. Less points for the higher price point. Probably fine in a cocktail though.

My first US produced rum, and I was a little disappointed to find a screw cap. The rum is a lovely dark color, with strong notes of vanilla on the nose. On the palate the vanilla notes continue, but with a definite alcohol warmth. This is almost like drinking sweetened vanilla extract. Though not unpleasant, it is definitely overpriced.

Good rum. One of the most different rums I’ve had. Flowers fill your taste buds. Hawaii in your mouth.
