Appleton Estate 12 Year Rare Casks
Aged Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed February 19, 2026 (edited May 25, 2026)Same rum as Apeton 12 year Rare Blend, in a new new design bottle. Still the best Jamaican rum at the price point, and quite possibly the BOAT Jamaican rum.44.95 USD per BottleVirginia ABC -
The carmel and oak are prevalent on the nose, as is a hint of ethanol that belies the 4 or 5 year age. The carmel and oak carry over on the palate with an almost rye pepper note. It is a bit hotter than some major “wheaters”, but definitely not excessively hot. This is a viscous sipper that would hold up well in a simple highball or cocktail for those who like to dilute whiskey.29.99 USD per Bottle

Maker's Mark Bourbon Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 26, 2025 (edited September 25, 2025)Typical Makers nose with mild vanilla sweetness. The vanilla sweetness carries over to the palate, but there is a spicy note that finishes a little (113.2 proof) hot.1580.0 USD per PourSalt Pond Pub -
Dulce Vida Añejo 100 Proof Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 24, 2025Was surprised at the ethanol on the nose until I realized it was 100 proof. Thete is also a herbal, agave sweetness on the nose that transfers to the palate. The alcohol, from the nose, transforms into pepper on the palate. Organic, 100% blue agave, 100 proof; ate there any other criteria for a good sipping blanco? i think not.29.99 USD per BottleVirginia ABC -
Peppery agave on the nose. Both continue on the palate, with a burst of pepper that dissipates quickly revealing the agave sweetness, a hint of citrus and a vegetal note. Between the 85 proof and the initial pepper burst, this is definitely a sipper not a shooter. All things considered, Tanteo Blanco is a fine, additive free sipping tequila blanco that punches well above the price point. It is better, and cheaper, than several of the better known, big brand tequilas.34.99 USD per Bottle

Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 3, 2025Sweet agave on the nose that is overshadowed on the palette by black pepper. It is pleasant enough to be a sipper, but due to the astringent finish it would be better as a mixer.19.99 USD per Bottle
