Kurayoshi 8 Year Pure Malt

Nose- under ripe pears, green apples, wheat Taste- sweet, pears, dark honey, a rich earthy taste almost I've never had in whiskey before. Bits of malt. Finish - Tastes like cut grass that's composting smells. Starts good like a decent highland scotch but the finish turns me off.

Got this sample from flaviar, probably my least favorite in the sampler though

Harsh at first. Oak but not good value for taste

Tasted very much like a typical scotch to me, which made sense when I looked at the details and saw it was a Scottish/Japanese blend. Unlike other Japanese whiskys that I’ve tried and enjoyed more. A fair bit of oak present from the bourbon barrels, and almond. Not something I would likely purchase, but not unpleasant.

Something I can sip on all night. Smooth with just the right bit; a hint of smoke.
