Color seems to be getting slightly darker but mostly stabilized. Mostly a mahogany, but a nice deep, dark red in the right light
Nose: dried cherries and raisins hit first this time. baking spices, a hint of wood tannin. A bit of sweet maltiness too. Peat and smoke undergird the entirety if the nose. a good oceanic sea spray/seaweed note.
Palate: I really do love a sherried Laphroaig, especially this one. A slightly thick/syrupy consistency. Dried/dark fruits, classic Laphroaig peat and smoke are strong. Vanilla, wood spice, sea spray. Earthy sherry. There's a slight sweet fruit note, but it is dark. Putting the super strong Laphroaig malt against a noticably heavy PX influence works well here, two impressively massive flavors. Definitely a sipper.
Finish: ashy, decomposing earth, phenolic peat lingers. mild earthy fruit leather.
