A bourbon for people who prefer scotch.
Definitely a thinner and less complex palate than most bourbons, but good sweetness without a syrupy feel, and also lacks the deep medicinal cherry notes typically found in bourbon. I suspect that’s due to the high wheat content helping mask the corniness, but there is also a noticeable lack of that overpowering new-oak flavor profile, which to me makes Larceny finish more like a scotch, but with a hint of rye-like cinnamon spice.
I can see why bourbon lovers and connoisseurs may not prefer this particular whiskey, but for those looking for a less bold and more bright and floral profile, this would suit them. I prefer scotch, and I really enjoy this bourbon. I would say it’s most similar to a speyside than anything else, as there is no peat, and definitely little to no smokiness.
