Reviewed August 8, 2024A complex, Agave Spirit by distiller Manuel Benet & mezcalero Eric Hernandez for Destilería Sacrificio in Tlacolula, Oaxaca, Mexico. It is made with Espadin that have aged for at least 10 years; that is roasted using mesquite & ocote pine; before being naturally fermented & double-distilled. The first distillation is in steel & while the second is in copper. It is then aged in untoasted brandy barrels for 3 months before being bottled at 40% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of exotic flowers, smoke, vegetals & citrus; while a unique life adds notes of agave, lemon, cinnamon & campfire; that leads to a complex death of medium length with notes of tropical flowers after a thunderstorm, bitter chocolate, honey, spring water, oak & pepper. Reviewed December 21, 2023The ex brandy makes this very interesting, a little more sweetness and less vegetal. -

Reviewed December 17, 2023Day 16 advent calender. Tried neat. On the nose it’s very smoky how I like a mezcal to be and slightly sweet. Notes of fruit, zest, and bubblegum on the nose. On the palate it’s smooth and smoky. Definitely will come back to this one. -
