Nose: classic rye spices of clove, cinnamon, light nutmeg. A consistent undernoted of maple syrup and caramel, with a sweet cherry note mixed in.
Taste: Baking spices, honey, hot pepper, melted caramel sauce, dark fruits and a long and lingering syrupy heat on the finish.
The nose on this one is elusive. Hard to pin down anything. If you pay attention, though, you get some brown sugar and spice. Palate is not too bready, but plenty of spice, which is what I like in a rye. Finish is the longest of the Michter’s that I’ve had, with a nice smokiness.
