Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon

Tastes a bit spicy. This is different from what I’m used to with WT101 and EW BiB.

This is my definition of a "daily drinker". $25 in NC and available everywhere. 100 proof value which is strong enough to stand up to mixing, ice, and water. Flavorful enough to enjoy neat and yet not so complex as to cause you to feel the need to contemplate too many things. I have a definite screw top bias which this unfortunately has. To quash this, I simply pour this juice into an empty OF Whiskey Row bottle w/ stylish cork! N-. A bit of alcohol, vanilla, malty brown sugar, with a slight pine note. P- Alcohol, top of mouth heat, chewy dried fruits, mixed spices, caramel with a rich oily mouth feel. F- Even balanced medium to long finish. Top of mouth heat returns as flavors tail away. A rock brings in some otherwise missing char and smoke along with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. This bottle is a winner.

A nice bourbon for the price ~$20. The nose is brown sugar and a bit astringent. The pallet is spicy and a brown sugar/caramelized sugars finish. A good lingering finish for the price. A got a bit of green fruit on the pallet early on, but towards the end of my tasting I got predominantly caramelized sugar and spice. Good for the price.
