Tasted November 7, 2020A collectors item now, grab a couple bottles if you see it in the wild because Anchor Distilling can no longer use the Anchor trademark after the sale to Sapporo. This is a unique and honest take of a traditional frontier malted rye. Not just for show like every other distillery is trying to convey in an โall hat and no cattleโ sort of way. This is well-crafted historical fiction, like โGates of Fire.โ The hue is light, the nose and palate are gentle but tough. Rough and tumble, an honest under appreciated rye and a new rarity. -

Tasted May 20, 2020This whiskey has a light golden hue with thin viscous legs. The nose is herbal and green and complex with notes of cinnamon toast, basil, oregano, Italian seasoning, green pine, wood freshly placed on a fire, dry straw, sawdust, and strangely enough, Play-Doh. The palate has an oily mouthfeel with notes of milk chocolate, cinnamon, rye spice, fennel, and melted butter. The finish is long with citrus and spice sending you off. Cheers! -

Tasted December 31, 2019This is its own thing. Smells weird - salty or meaty or B. O. or sawdust. Tastes like a mixed cocktail with bitters, maybe citrus, spice, etc.
