Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye (2023 Release)
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 7, 2024 (edited December 19, 2024)βοΈ: (First opening. Let sit for about 5 minutes.) π: Intense dark copper, evokes mysterious emotions, makes you wonder what's in that Glencairn, legs are extremely thin and doesn't really stick to the walls when agitated; π: Very thick like fog upon first sniff, sweet banana bread, luscious caramel, and vanilla intertwined with toffee, smells like candy; π : The heat you taste at the beginning is immediately quenched by the almost overpowering sweetness that's at the outset, banana and toffee and butterscotch hit you like a bomb, not much detectable rye on my end, nothing but sweet; π: This is one beautiful dream dram! Gotta give love to this one!! Sweetness pervades throughout and there isn't much evidence that this is 136.5 proof at all, no heat, you can sip this for days and not realize you're done, top shelf for me β€οΈ69.99 USD per BottleSIPS - The Bottle Emporium -
βοΈ: Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: Rather dark brown, just like I remember; π: Medicinal whiff, herbal and green, touch of butterscotch somewhere in there; π : Very sweet, sugary; not a lot of heat, and that's perfect for this proof since the sweetness is what really stands out; π: There isn't really a lingering finish here. I haven't had this since 2019 when I was not sipping; this is a great daily but even better for special occasions like today for Thanksgiving 2024!

Kirkland Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 8, 2023 (edited December 9, 2024)β±οΈ: First uncorking. Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: Dull sheen, like unfinished metal, has some bubbles, can't tell if there are legs because I'm drinking from a plastic cup; π: Can't detect much smoke from the cup but you can smell it out the bottle, mostly fragrant berries and a little stonefruit; π : Ahh...the smoke is definitely evident here, hits you with its best shot like a boxer, fruits and toffee, oaky, can't taste it off the palate but at the finish; π: Taste thankfully doesn't linger too much, finish is short, but the smoke does make you feel like Puff The Magic Dragon because it comes out your nose π -
Montelobos EspadΓn Mezcal Joven
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed May 20, 2023 (edited December 19, 2024)Let sit for about a minute. π: Clear as day, no legs but droplets instead; π: Sweet like a sugarcube, a bit vegetal, smoke isn't evident at first but creeps up on you, a little caramel; π : This is where the smoke hits you, also very sweet as the nose will tell you, almost tastes artificially sweet, caramel and molasses; π: This taste is lingering and wants to stay, almost like you licked a sugarcube, can't say it's beautiful but more like a one night stand... You love it at the moment but can't wait to kick it out πDave & Buster's Daly City -
LALO Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 14, 2023 (edited May 15, 2023)β: Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: Very clear, typical of a Blanco, not much legs; π: Very faint earthy vegetal scent, mostly sugar cubes and a little honey; π : Super sweet, don't remember a Blanco tasting this good in awhile, almost tastes artificial but with this taste I'll take it; π: Taste is remarkably short and of course sweet, I was told by my cousin that if you want to fully appreciate the taste of tequila that you drink it Blanco and this Lalo is one that I can truly appreciate. (NOTE: I had this drink while waiting for P-Lo to perform and had just taken a few other Kirkland Tequila AΓ±ejo shots and a couple CBD gummies which probably were THC instead, but even through all that this Lalo still outshined them all.)15.0 USD per ShotThe Warfield -
πΎ First uncorking. βοΈ: Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: Very pale hay, with an almost greenish hue if you look hard, finishes off with a golden flourish after swish agitating, legs are not too thick; π: Some vegetal and sickly sweet notes at the outset, more sniffing reveals sugar cubes, vanilla evident; π : Sweetness all around and then some, not much complexity though, itβs almost artificial tasting, vanilla and a hint of toffee; π: Very easy sipper or shooter, mild enough to have anytime, doesnβt taste like a heater at all, overall not complex and great for beginners.17.99 USD per BottleCostco Wholesale

βοΈ: Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: Light flecks of hay mixed in with mature wheat, sunset tonight, walls sticking to the sides of the glencairn; π: Malty scents typical of Japanese whiskey or scotch, pineapple, a little cherry, sherry influences; π : Tartness at the outset gives way to tender velvety soft fruit notes, more cherries and stone fruit, very simplistic taste with not much complexity; π: Short linger is a pleasant one, soft notes stick with you though, reminds me of a harsh Hibiki π€¨, nothing special but hey itβs Akashi!43.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

βοΈ: Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: A very deep ocher or copper-burgundy; swishing creates walls rather than legs indicating average ABV; π: Pungent apple stench, pears and grapes/grapefruit as well, basically a fruit basket, lots of barrel influences; π : Intense Robitussin taste at the outset, a bit of heat, unripe grapes, melted butter at the tail end; π: Taste tends to linger longer than Iβd like, medicinal twang thatβs off putting, I think Iβll pass from a second helping. Note: there had to have been a reason why I didnβt remember this one. Nose is tasty, taste not so much.Total Wine & More

First uncorking. πΎ Let sit for about 5 minutes. π: Medium copper, looks viscous and oily at first glance, legs are thick indicating the high proof; π: Fruit basket, soft baking spices, butterscotch for sure, vanilla and cherry, not much hint of the alcohol at all; π : Caramel and cotton candy, luscious fruits, sweet honey, butterscotch once again, toffee; π: Soft and sweet finish, almost tastes like you just finished a caramel candy, you're taken to bourbon heaven with this one, no hint of alcohol whatsoever, this deserves more than 5 stars!59.99 USD per BottleCostco Hayward

Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2023 (edited March 27, 2023)πΎ Uncorking. π: Light amber notes with sunset in the background; legs; π: Smells a bit of acetone at the outset, which gives way to kettle popcorn and cherry pie, grape laffy taffy; π: Immediate corn and ethanol, some Ghirardelli dark chocolate 72%, whoa this shit burns, strong alcohol at the ending, melted caramel; π: Lingers quite a bit also, might be better off diluted a bit, finish is "corny."23.99 USD per BottleCostco Wholesale
