Reviewed August 6, 2022My father in law, who likes this kind of thing, hated this and abandoned it at my house. My expectations are incredibly low, but I’ll try to not let that get in the way. My first thought, when the lid stuck to the jar, was holy shit this must be sugary. The nose, basically blackberry jelly, blackberry candy, and blackberry wine, thus far confirms my initial diagnosis. Now for a taste. It’s sweet, but not nearly as sweet as I thought it would be. There’s actually a little bit of a sourness to the flavor, which is essentially blackberry wine, blackberry jelly, rosso vermouth and cough syrup. In any event it certainly isn’t good, either objectively or subjectively, but I may just keep it while I have space. In the glass it’s only slightly purplish, and looks close enough to bourbon if you aren’t really looking that it might be fun to pour for unsuspecting friends. -

Reviewed November 30, 2020 (edited January 5, 2021)It’s got a pleasant-enough blackberry aroma, and it’s only 40 proof, so it doesn’t smell like blackberry cough syrup. It doesn’t really taste like cough syrup, either, unlike the company’s Hunch Punch Lightnin’. That being said, it’s not very interesting at all, just a little blackberry and a little alcohol. I’d rather sip the company’s White Lightnin’. $3.29 for a 50 ml sample mason jar at Total Wine & More.3.29 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More
