Redbreast 12 Year Cask Strength

Still taste worse in comparison with the normal Redbreast 12. But the Whiskey starts to grow on me. Especially when cold to warm up with some snacks.

Batch B1/21, 56.3% ABV Nose: shortbread, orange, and vanilla Palate: shortbread cookie, butter, metallic/copper, dried figs, orange zest, vanilla ice cream, ginger, baking spice, and oakiness. Bold and rich, and only a little hot Finish: dried fruit, nutty, spices, and some bitter oak With water added: softer and less hot for sure, more shortbread and butter and gets sweeter overall. Overall: big, rich and super tasty! Big classic pot still notes, way more baking spice than I was expecting (even gingerbread-like), and complex. I always like the 12 and 15 years, but this is an upgrade in my opinion.

Actually didn’t like this as much as the basic 12 year expression. It comes across the nose and palate more closed and a bit heavier. Typically, the higher proof would help it, but it just adds burn without much else

This is very good, but it might be the only whiskey I’ve tried that I don’t prefer the cask strength. The plain 12 is better. Now that I’m on my second bottle….gotta up the rating. This is delicious.
