Redwood Empire Emerald Giant Rye

Completely serviceable rye whiskey with enough spice to make a wonderful cocktail. Will stand on its own, but relatively simplistic.

4.5 for the value Nose is toffee and a bit of ethanol Taste: starts sweet like candied fruit with little burn, rye spice kicks in mid palette and finish is longer than expected with stronger oak/wood notes Very happy with the purchase and makes a great everyday sipper

Pale golden straw color with many slow running legs. Nose: a burst of green apple, rye spice and barn must. A bit of a hit of heat Mouthfeel: coats quick, plenty of heat, a bit cloying. Front is not sweet at all. Wood shows up almost immediately. Mid shows lots of wood, and starts the fruit. Finish is good and fairly long: tart fruit, dry oak and light caramel. A hint of pine pops through there, too Overall: This is a rock solid rye. Very enjoyable, well balanced and interesting unto itself. Terrific value.
