Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond

Nose: Honey butter on warm bread(think Cheddar's croissants) Palate: Rye spice, bread, honey(less butter on palate) Finish: more baking spice and some oaky notes with a hint of citrus, slightly nutty Overall an excellent whiskey for the price. The nose alone has me hooked. Not many whiskeys at this price can hold up this well neat.

This is a standard for a reason. Neat, on the rocks, or in any cocktail, the flavor holds true. This is my go to for any rye based cocktail, and I occasionally enjoy it neat in a tasting with other rye whiskey. This has stood the test of time, can be found in nearly any store, and routinely makes everyone's top 10 for Rye. Do yourself a favor and buy it.

100 proof, 4 yr min., BiB Nose- apple, cherry cola, mint, cinnamon, ethanol, black tea, coffee? Palate- apple pie, vanilla, mint, Juicy Fruit gum Finish- Rye spice, clean, nice I’ve not had very many Rye’s but I think I will be trying more after this one. It’s a great sip and very affordable at $35 for a store pick.

I had this in an old fashion and it stood up very well. I’ll own a bottle when I get a chance.
