Rutte's Oude 12 is distilled from grains and uses juniper and other herbs for flavoring. Only the malt-wine has aged for 12 years. While there is a large proportion of malt-wine in this genever, it also partly consists of un-aged alcohol. Therefore this is officially not 12 years old. Note: Not available in the US.

Tasting Notes

"Inviting and warm with lots of little subtleties such as cinnamon and cardamom along with light touches of aniseed and vanilla. The palate gives us warm baking spices, particularly cinnamon. Fairly sweet also, but with a subtle peppery edge. This is good stuff, and would be interesting side step for a whiskey enthusiast. Supremely balanced."
