Sagamore Spirit Straight Rye

Pretty sweet on the nose with a lot of maple notes. Taste is….hot, spice, kind of a punch but does finish with some nice floral notes and a relatively tame finish. Its pretty much what you would expect from a high proof rye, but with a nice floral surprise.

Fruity and sweet, full bodied, a bit of heat, but very well balanced. Sloghtly oily, but also light. A lovely dram.

Initial nose was ethanol and almost piney. On tasting I got some clove and baking spices. Adding a little water mellowed the ethanol and I got a bit of a gingerbread cookie note. Still a little harsh on the finish.
