Reviewed June 6, 2026Simple and effective rye—possibly the most archetypal of ryes. The nose provides some spicy barrel notes while the palate is straight to the point with sweet, fresh, and spicy barrel notes. Pretty good, but no wow factor. It is a shelf essential. -

Reviewed April 27, 2025 (edited June 5, 2025)A bold, Straight Rye Whiskey by Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Maryland crafted with copper stills, aged in new charred oak barrels for 4 to 6 years & bottled at 93 proof. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grain, wood, fruit, herbs & spices; while a bold & spicy life adds notes of vanilla, honey & nutmeg; that led to a long & warm death adding notes of rye, spiced apricot nectar, caramel cream, tobacco leaf & oak.
