Still Austin Cask Strength Rye Whiskey

Nose: Grass, Rye Spice Palate: Mint, Chocolate, Molasses Finish: Long, sweet, hint of spice

Received a sample from a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium-dark amber. Nose: Lots of earthy and vegetal notes with some mint. Palate: Baking spice and clove. Finish: Long length with medium heat. Splash: A spicy minty note appears. Overall: 8/10 - I have had some bad experiences with Texas whiskey, but I can't find a fault here. It's definitely an above average rye, and the price doesn't break the bank. Still I wonder what more time in oak could have accomplished.

Explosive and refined. Deep notes of dark rye spice, cocoa, and toasted oak lead into a bold, full-bodied palate with waves of vanilla, burnt sugar, and roasted grain. Long, clean finish. Sweet but never cloying. A powerhouse pour with clarity and polish; familiar flavors delivered with standout precision and intensity.

This is awesome all around. Great spice throughout the palalte and a long finish. Excellent

Spiced hard candy, rye nose. Herbal eucalyptus, rye toast, burnt toffee, barrel spice. Dense and rounded. Medium-long finish. Warming. My mood would decide if I wanted the brighter standard rye or this denser version. Both shelfers for me.
