Templeton Rye 4 Year

Decent basic rye, not particularly complex. Decent spicy rye flavor with a bit of ethanol. Rye finish that lingers for a bit. It's not anything special, but it's perfectly drinkable. It's a little thin on the palate- I prefer all my whiskey on the oily side. Would be better if it were higher proof. Probably good to mix if you want something with a solid rye flavor shining through your mixer.

Found this on clearance for $17.50. Makes an excellent Manhattan and Old Fashioned. Great value at clearance price! I wouldn’t purchase this at SRP of $34 though. Update 6/18/20 Just saw this at Walmart $12.29 clearance. Wow Update 12/23/22 So with the Templeton bottle update I lost track of the fact that I had a couple of bottles of this already. And I must say it’s incredibly easy drinking. A bit light but as another reviewer said, it’s a good whiskey for people who don’t drink whiskey because it’s so inoffensive. It reminds me of a whiskey that sat in a glass with a large cube half melted aka watered down but that’s meant in a good way. I really like this for the price point.
