Enjoyable nose - fruity sweetness...hints of rum Pallet follows the nose Finish very long - a little hotter than it should be The finish is the only place this pour goes off course

Not a smoky scotch at all. With the aging it has a sweeter note to it that is very pleasant but not overly strong. I preferred it straight but my wife liked it on the rocks.

Tasted at a Dan Murphys whisky event, 15 ml pour and quite a distracting environment, but some brief notes here that give an idea of whats in this bottle. N: rich, but not in the traditional "deep and indulgent" way, but a thick and intense way. Tropical fruit abound with, toffee and creaminess. A little woody. Banana comes out with time. I really do enjoy banana on the nose, but my nose is rubbish at finding it, and I had to dig hard for this note. P: Sugary, almost granular sweetness like partly dissolved brown sugar. Sweet vanilla, green apple crispness. Is there a little spiciness in there, bakery allspice or nutmeg maybe mix in with a malty-cereal. F: Short-medium. A little warmth with pepper, chilli and vanilla, it's gentle though and brings the preceding sweetness under control. This is my first rum casked whisky I think. I don't dislike it. However, the granularity of the palate, the almost overpowering sweet flavours, and work it took me to find what was there put me off a little. I think I will try this again given the chance, hopefully in peace and quiet. But, for now, it's good, but forgettable. Distiller whisky taste #67
