In a local shop - not my usual go-to-shop - I purchased a small tasting pack consisting of 3x 5cl bottles of Tomatin: Tomatin Legacy, the 12 year old 'Bourbon & Sherry Casks', and a 14 year old 'Port Cask'. The last one I had already tasted and reviewed, so I'll only review the first two.
To be honest, as regular readers of my reviews might have noticed - I usually favor peaty, smoky whisky's, so my expectations weren't very high - especially not for the NAS 'Legacy'.
Here's review 2/2 - The Tomatin 12 year old - Bourbon & Sherry Casks.
This one I had slight higher expectations of than the Legacy. I usually quite like special finishes, so this one had to be better.
The nose resembled the Legacy, but showed more pronounced lemon and herbs, while adding some winey notes. The taste was more of the same, while the sherry-influence was clear, but not dominant.
The aftertaste was short to medium, and pleasant.
3.5 stars.
