Uruapan Charanda Blanco

Super cool. On the nose it's a bit like a rum and tequila hybrid, with a lot of cakey, sweetness and fresh juiciness. But it's also got subtle hints of tropical over-ripeness that are akin to hogo.

Olive brine nose with a healthy dose of funk. Very earthy, the palate reminds me of Paranubes at first, but the finish is much more along the lines of a typical Agricole.

Had an earthiness to it like a tequila. A white rum with personality.

Hear me out. I’m reminded of Arrack. It’s like if mezcal and rhum agricole had a baby. Nose is a strong hogo and olive brine. The palate quickly switches to a banana and grassy, sweet. Haitian profile. Your first pour neat is confusing, but you’ll keep coming back to it because it’s so unique.

An essential for whipping up low-cost cocktails! Only downside, compared to other similar agricole-category rhum, is that the half pot-distilled funk gets toned down by the column-still portion, giving the final spirit a finish that leaves one wanting. I give this 4 stars because the fresh grass/banana funk notes bring this rum well above the flavor profiles of similarly-priced whites, with a very strong nose and complexity on the palate. NOT A SIPPING RUM, but AMAZING in cocktails! Good to introduce friends to the world of esters.

Funky, dry, reminding me more of a Rhum Agricole than a traditional molasses-based rum. Grassy notes abound, along with some residual sweetness from the molasses. I'm not sure I'd drink this neat, but it's great in daiquiris or other mixed drinks if you're looking for more complexity than a typical white rum.
