Westward American Single Malt

I really enjoyed this. Definitely scotch influence. Apple on the nose, herbal and a hint of sweet. Nice long finish. Not the smoothest ever, but I'm good with that.

(Mix & Match Ltd & The Spirit Cartel – Virtual American Whiskey Tasting, 10th June 2021). Nose: Plasticine, sweet, candle wax, sweat/BO, damp hay Palate: Waxy/oily, very sweet, children’s sweets, berries, summer fruit, brown sugar Finish: Medium short sweet finish. Black pepper, salt, leather, dark chocolate. Very soft. I would have rated this a little higher, but the nose is really off putting! One you get past the, frankly unpleasant, smell this is a tasty whiskey. It has a lovely softness on the finish that really lifts the dram.

On the nose I'm getting straight up apple juice with the slightest hint of spice, maybe cinnamon or allspice. The palate is kind of sour and musty, like an overripe fruit that is about to go bad. Finish is pretty short with some wood spice that makes an appearance. Overall, not something I would likely go back to.

Hint of caramel on the nose and a hint of baking spices for the taste.

Smells and tastes like peach rings.
