Dark golden hay color, lots of slow running legs.
Nose is very complex: golden raisins, green apple, freshly cut old oak boards, vanilla, rye funk, cobwebs and a touch of baking spice.
Soft mouthfeel carries a slow warming effect. Some astringency follows the swallow and the tart fruity notes start popping through the oak and light caramel.
Finish is buttered toast, dry oak and more green apple.
Super complex, yet really well balanced.
I'd leverage my budget towards bourbon rather than ponying up for a rye with this price tag, but I really appreciate it nonetheless.
