William Larue Weller Bourbon (Fall 2023)

Very surprised by this pour tonight. I’ve had it opened now a couple of weeks after trying it fresh crack. The nose is still very hot but you get more notes this time around. Very fruity with some sweetness, vanilla & floral notes. The palate was dominated by fresh red fruits. (Like a strawberry, raspberry cobbler). A little floral but balanced with some sweetness & oak. There is a burn towards the end of the palate. Long finish that had a nice build up. Overall: I think this will continue to open up with time. I have to knock this down a peg because of how hot this is. I will play around with adding a couple of drops of water to see if that helps. I love the flavor profile and the finish of this pour. For context, GTS ‘22 was clearly better than this when side by side.

Pedestrian. Especially for what it’s supposed to be, its a hot mess, and doesnt get better.
