Nose - incredibly robust black pepper, some roasted rye grain and a bit of cinnamon
Taste - spiced rye and pepper mix nicely, surprisingly soft compared to the nose, mild sweetness like milk chocolate, and some sweet malt notes as well
Finish - sweet and mildly spicy, decent burn, silky mouth feel

This took a few months to open up, but it finally has started to sing. Dark, leathered fruits, strong pepper and spice, rich, ginger bread like background. The nose is probably its best component, just fantastic. It does have a higher alcohol presence then many, especially up front and in the first few months of opening. Let this one breathe. Having said that, it is always a Rye. Spicy.
Ripe apples on the nose, a hint of cinnamon. Quite harsh on the mouth, but still a pleasantly unpleasant booziness. Well balanced notes of cinnamon and sweet apples and caramel that lingers long after the initial booziness drops off.
Millstone is very peppery with lasting notes of cinnamon and sweetness. I enjoy it on the rocks, but have also used it in cocktails. One of my favorite ryes and i have repurchased it.
